From the Living Room to Rai2: Salottica Drops ‘Fa Cavere Fa Fridd’ and Shakes Up Italian Rock

A story of friendship, irony, and pure sound. From Southern Italy to Rai2 and the heart of London, Salottica is a garage rock band bringing authenticity back to Italian rock music.

The Beginning

Some bands start in garages. Salottica was born in a garage but grew up in a living room. In September 2003, in Castel San Giorgio, drummer Fabio Sarno and singer-guitarist Giovanni Pellegrino transformed a family living room,  filled with 19th-century furniture and musical dreams, into the birthplace of their sound.

Their mission was simple: make real music. Honest, raw, and free from trends. Their sound blended Italian songwriting with Anglo-American rock, forging a unique and powerful identity. Early songs like Nemico/Amico, Scelta Obbligata, and Mister Matto defined their voice.

The First Album

In 2008, the band released the Promo EP, followed by their debut album in 2010, collection of emotional, uncompromising songs, with a new line-up: Mauro Correale (guitar), Michele Vietri (drums), Francesco Oliva (bass guitar) and Giovanni Pellegrino (voice and guitar). The album was re-released on Spotify in 2022, bringing nostalgia and renewed attention to their underground sound.

The Pause and the Rebirth

After a hiatus, Giovanni moved to London, exploring new sounds through the Kitchen Sessions. He collaborated with italian local artists, including bass player Bruno Caiazzo, drummer Luigi Di Paolo, guitarist Giuseppe Musotto and Madame So creating fresh music in a multicultural environment.

During the 2020 lockdown, a new song was born:
“Fa Caver Fa Fridd”, a playful yet powerful Neapolitan-language track about climate change and human contradictions.

The Future

Salottica bridges tradition and rebellion, where Neapolitan dialect meets distortion. Their music proves that garage rock can still think, laugh, and move hearts.
