How Chaos Sounds 2024? Music, Sustainability, and Social Inclusion Unite in Scampia
On September 15, 2024, the neighborhood of Scampia in Naples will host the third edition of the unique event: How Chaos Sounds? (Come Suona il Caos?), blending music, ecology, and civil solidarity. Taking place at Chikù – Kitchen and Culture, this free-entry event promises a day full of live performances, workshops, and public discussions centered on environmental sustainability and social rights.
Conceived by Maurizio Capone, the frontman of Capone & BungtBangt, an eco-band that has been using upcycled instruments since 1999, How Chaos Sounds? 2024 focuses on exploring the connection between humans and nature. The event highlights both environmental and social issues, emphasizing community collaboration and creative solutions.
Through its focus on sustainability, the event becomes an open invitation for attendees to engage with environmental issues in a tangible way. The event will feature numerous interactive activities, including music performances, clean-up campaigns, and workshops on crafting musical instruments from recycled materials.
The event is designed to engage and inspire participants throughout the day:
10:30 AM – “Pick the Music from the Ground”: A community clean-up initiative where participants will collect waste in local areas, transforming trash into creative musical instruments.
-Workshops and Eco-Activities: Attendees will join workshops where they can build their own instruments from the waste collected during the morning.
– Public Debates: Thought leaders and activists such as Father Alex Zanotelli and Professor Renato Briganti will engage in discussions on sustainability, circular economy, and social justice.
– Evening Concert: A captivating live music performance featuring Zulù (99 Posse), Franco Ricciardi, Peppe Lanzetta, and others will bring the day to a crescendo.
The location for How Chaos Sounds? 2024—the multi-ethnic center Chikù—is no coincidence. Situated in one of Naples’ most complex and intriguing districts, the event aims to showcase Scampia as a center of resilience, culture, and hope. The choice of this neighborhood, often portrayed in a negative light, sends a strong message about the transformative power of culture, creativity, and collaboration.
This event goes beyond entertainment: it’s a platform for positive change, highlighting how communities can come together to tackle environmental and social challenges through music, art, and activism. By focusing on themes of social inclusion and environmental justice, How Chaos Sounds? 2024 is an opportunity to reshape perceptions of Scampia and celebrate its vibrant culture.
